I built a trainspotting app, it's on Google Play store, iPhone is coming if Apple respond.
It's quite simple, focuses on Headcodes as the source to try and minimise input. It's quite cool. Check it out.
I have added a bunch of train spotting features now. You can see it, its available to everyone. Look under the menu.
You can build a personal sighting record by logging vehicles, headcodes, locations and times, with clearer summaries of recent activity, unique vehicles and first or last sightings.
Community context is now shown around vehicles, locations and headcodes using privacy-conscious wording. Live location boards also provide richer service and timetable information, including platform details where available.
Together, these changes bring Fishplate closer to a shared, evidence-led record of the railway people see every day.
There is lots more planned for this but for now, I am interested in feedback.
A few updates for June
Using the metadata discovered inside videos, each video now has an AI summary. This is something is a test, to see what is possible and what learnings can be found from it but its open to all. You will see the description each video. It may take a short while for new videos to earn their summary.
Earlier today, I published a map feature. Videos which can be tied to a location are now browsable on a map. There is likely to be some false positives but its quite interesting to see how varied the videos are accross the country.
Rail Express Systems has been added to the database, not much there right now but more to come in the future.
Operators are not tagged in all videos right now. I am preparing model updates and have removed some mentions of operators on videos to reduce false positives. There is a lot of processing to do with the data already analysed and models need retraining.
