SNOWDON MOUNTAIN RAILWAY a journey to remember | Unique RACK & PINION locos CLIMB THE MOUNTAINS! ⛰️

Join us on a unique journey as we head 1,085 meters (3,560 feet) above sea level on the UK's only Rack & Pinion operated railway! We journey to the summit of Snowdon, diesel hauled by No. 10 ‘Yeti’ in the ‘Katherine Jenkins OBE’ observation carriage.

Enjoy preparation of the steam locomotives No.6 ‘Padarn’ and No. 3 ‘Wyddfa’, as a comprehensive day of services begins with the 9am diesel No.9 ‘Ninian’, and 9.30am steam service with No.3 ‘Wyddfa’, before we jump on the 10am with No. 10 ‘Yeti’, seeing stunning scenery and breathtaking views throughout the climb, while winding our way up through rugged landscapes to the peaks of the misty mountains. Visibility as the summit was shrouded in cloud this morning but by no means less impressive, and I couldn't resist the short climb to the dial at the very top, before we head back to base completing the 2 ½ hour journey up and down the mountain behind the diesel.

This railway had been a mainstay tourist attraction since 1896, offering passengers an unforgettable experience behind both the steam hauled locomotives and the diesels, introduced in 1985, and it was certainly a memorable journey today!
