Chasing 'The Weymouth Seaside Express' through Dorset & Wiltshire
plus 'Top n Tailed' Cathedrals Express with a pair of EWS 67s
30th June 2013
This day was a day of a couple of rail tours, not as much as the day before, which I captured on video. Amongst the usual First Great Western services operated by DMU Classes 158, 150 and HST's. I was chasing The Weymouth Seaside Express starting out from Bristol Temple Meads in the morning, heading for the Dorset seaside resort of Weymouth. I witnessed this excursion at several locations along her route, plus the 'Light Engine' movement to Yeovil Junction, for turning and water replenishment. Along with this tour was Steam Dreams' The Cathedrals Express, hauled in Top'n'Tail fashion with a pair of EWS Class 67s. (67028 + 67020) originating from London Waterloo going to the Cathedral City of Exeter (St Davids). A classic shot from a classic viewpoint, was seeing 44932 climbing up the 1:50 incline to the Bincombe Tunnels at Upwey Bank, a few miles out of Weymouth. I then headed back to Westbury, to capture on film yet again these two splendid rail tours. Of course at Westbury, being a Sunday, Freight was a little scarce, but some were about, including some Light Engines. I hope this video entertains and brings back fond memories of the time, and do feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read, and greatly appreciated.
