Short formed HST sets of the UK railways GWR & ScotRail
In this video I feature the only two operators in the country who regularly use 125 Sets in passanger service, GWR and ScotRail. Both companies use short formed HSTs of either 5 or four coach formations on rural services. Under GWR, they are branded "Castle Sets" and under Scotrail they are branded "Intercity7"
As well as these companies, Locomotive services operate a full length HST "The Blue pullman" offering a high quality dinner service on railtours. Network Rail also operate the new measurment train. However these services are not regular passanger services unlike GWR and Scotrail.
These short formed HST sets have been modified with sliding plug doors to be compatible with the latest railway legislation. The first section of this video focuses on GWR, in and around devon. When the second section focuses on ScotRail, filmed around Perth, Glasgow and Stirling.
Hopefully you enjoy watching this compilation of Short Formed HST sets, as there is no telling how much longer they have left!
This video showcases short-formed HST sets currently in use on UK railways, primarily operated by GWR and ScotRail. These sets, known as "Castle Sets" and "Intercity7" respectively, run in 4 or 5 coach formations on rural services. The footage includes various Class 43 power cars, though specific operators for these units are not detailed. Other organisations such as Blue Pullman and Network Rail also utilise HST sets, though not for regular passenger services. Locations featured include Caldicot, Perth, Plymouth, Stirling, and Totnes.
