Description
An interesting evening with a flurry of heritage traction at Didcot Parkway this evening and between the usual freight action we firstly see an consist of heritage diesel locomotives, with West Coast Railways Class 37 37706 hauling Chopper 20066 and Peak 45108 from Barrow Hill, with the convoy bound for Swanage ahead of this weekends Swanage Railway Diesel Gala!

After a delay due to late running, we then see the National Railway Museums World Famous LNER A3 Pacific 60103/4472 'Flying Scotsman', being dragged by DB 66117 from York NRM - Didcot Railway Centre. The diesel was attached due to the continued fire risk that the prolonged hot weather poses, and we see the consist arriving before the 66 shunts Scotsman and its support coach back into the Railway Centre, ready for it's reunion with former GWR rival and preservation stablemate GWR Castle 4079 'Pendennis Castle'. The last time the two steam locomotives met was in 1989, in Western Australia! | 06.05.2025
