Description
At 04:59 on the morning of 31st July 6V70 0302 Small Heath Caledonia Yard to Swindon Emr Gbrf passed Stoke Works Junction, Bromsgrove.

Soon after in the Crowle area of Worcester 6V70 came to a halt after the driver reported sparks from the consist on the train. Hours past and it was determined the train could not move any further due to severe wheelflats found on one wagon.

A team was deployed to the sight but a crash on the M5 delayed them, this adding further delay to the line block planned to be at 12:00 . The line block eventually took place at around 13:30 and work began to assess the train.

It was initially determined the train would need 8 skates this reduced to 3 after more examination.

In the video we see the first of three being fitted to the damaged wagon. Another one was fitted before the ground teams ran out of working hours. As of now 21:00 the train is still sat in the same position.

This led to the Southbound mainline being closed between Stoke works junction and Abbotswood Junction for the whole day. Services had to divert via Droitwich Spa and Worcester Shrub Hill missing out Worcestershire Parkway causing massive service disruption, cancelling all southbound services from WOP.

During assessments of the train a line block was also added to the North bound lines while skates were being fitted to the train, causing more delays and cancellations in the northbound direction where trains also had to divert via Worcester Shrub Hill & Droitwich Spa before joining the mainline again at Stoke Works Junction.
