Epic Quad Class 43 Drag! Long Marston Move & LSL Pullman HST Action!
Welcome to another exciting video – this time capturing two days of fantastic HST action featuring FOUR Class 43 powercars on a rare drag to Long Marston, alongside the elegant Locomotive Services Limited (LSL) Pullman HST.
📍 Day 1 – Worcestershire Parkway:
The day began at the modern and architecturally impressive Worcestershire Parkway station, where I was lucky enough to witness a truly rare crossover. Thanks to the unique station design, the line serving Platform 3 runs directly above Platforms 1 and 2, which carry the main Birmingham–Bristol route. This allowed me to catch a CrossCountry Voyager passing underneath a GWR Intercity Express Train (IET)—a striking and unusual moment that perfectly showcases the layered complexity of the UK rail network.
🚂 The highlight of the day was the quad Class 43 drag working to Long Marston—an increasingly rare movement that railfans won’t want to miss. With four HST powercars leading the way, this drag was a feast for the ears and eyes, and a nod to the end of an era for these iconic machines.
📍 Day 2 – Worcester Shrub Hill:
On the second day, I headed to the historic Worcester Shrub Hill station, where I captured the magnificent LSL Pullman HST working 1Z28 – the 05:59 Severn Tunnel Junction to Carlisle charter service. The classic HST formation combined with the premium Pullman livery made for a truly memorable sight.
This video is packed with everything from rare movements and scenic backdrops to architectural interest and great traction variety. Whether you’re a hardcore HST enthusiast or just enjoy high-quality UK rail content, there’s something here for you.
🎬 Filmed over two days at multiple locations, this is one of my most exciting uploads yet.

🟥 Day 1 – 6V92 Corby – Margam (via Worcestershire Parkway)
• 6V92 is a regular steel service carrying steel products from the Tata Steel terminal at Corby in Northamptonshire to Margam in South Wales.
• This train typically runs via Leicester, Birmingham, and through Worcestershire Parkway on the route to South Wales via the Severn Tunnel.
• 66175 was allocated to this service and passed through Worcestershire Parkway as part of its booked diagram.
⸻
🟥 Day 2 – 6V05 Round Oak – Margam (via Cheltenham Spa)
• 6V05 is another steel working, this time from the Round Oak terminal near Brierley Hill (serving the steel terminal there) to Margam.
• This service also routes toward South Wales, typically passing Cheltenham Spa, Gloucester, then over the Severn.
• The reuse of 66175 on this working the following day suggests it either:
• Stayed overnight at Margam or a nearby holding point after completing 6V92, then picked up 6V05 the next day;
• Or was diagrammed for multiple steel services across two days, with efficient rotation from one steel terminal to another.
⸻
🔁 Why This Happens
• DB Cargo (like other TOCs) rotates locomotives across services based on availability, maintenance cycles, and diagramming needs.
• Steel flows between the Midlands and South Wales are frequent and closely linked, so it’s common for one loco to cover multiple services on successive days.
⸻
Summary
Seeing 66175 on two separate Margam-bound steel services in two days, passing two different stations, reflects the tight integration of DB Cargo’s steel train diagrams. The loco was likely diagrammed for multiple Margam-bound services, explaining the back-to-back sightings.
If you’re tracking this loco or others, tools like Realtimetrains, Railcams, and freight movement logs can give even more detail about its recent workings.
