Description
Following the recent visit to the Severn Valley Railway where we saw the Duke being reassembled after overhaul, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY7QaCOPjZs, and some opportunities to get up close and personal during last weekends Spring Diesel Festival https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3hxN8uakWQ&t=1129s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PLmXFozsD0&t=6191s 71000 'Duke Of Gloucester' was pressed into action on loaded test runs on the Severn Valley Railway today, after continued recommissioning work delayed the original test running programme.

We catch the unique BR Class 8P Pacific firstly as it steams into Kidderminster tender first with the Caledonian Sleeper/ ex GWR Mk3 rake and it's own Mk1 support coach, before running round and departing with the first run under load to Hampton Loade. We then pick up the action at Arley as the first run returns to Kidderminster. Four trips were planned into todays working timetable, however once the Duke returned to Kidderminster at lunchtime after its initial run, a few teething troubles presented themselves so the crew spent a few hours longer than planned at Kidderminster, parked up in the run round by her support coach, working to fix some of the issues which presented themselves, working to rectify troubles the slide bars and fine tune the Caproitti valve gear, before the LSL team had one more run from Kidderminster - Hampton Loade and back as far as Bewdley, which we see departing Kidderminster and passing back through Highley this afternoon .
