Description
50008 was withdrawn from BR service on 5th June 1992 and is now owned and operated by Hanson Hall Rail. 50008 is usually based at Knottingley (Wakefield, West Yorkshire). Thunderer regularly operates on the mainline, moving anything from track machines to brand new multiple units and can also be seen on enthusiast charter trains and other preserved railways during their diesel galas.

This weekend, following it's trip down on the mainline last Thursday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1AvvZtAxGU&t=18s the locomotive starred in the Bodmin & Wenford Railways Diesel Gala event, alongside the lines home fleet Class 50 50042 'Triumph', 47306 'The Sapper', Class 121 Bubble Car 121020 and Class 10 D3489 Shunter 'Colonel Tomline' and having not worked in Cornwall for 33 years, 50008 proved a popular draw at the Diesel Gala! Another highlight was the pairing of the guest locomotive on the CDA wagons owned by the National Wagon Preservation Group!

The day started dry and blustery but rain set in during the late morning and sadly by mid afternoon the rain prevailed, but it didn't dampen our spirits so enjoy coverage of a great from Sunday spent at the gala!
