Fellsman, Lakelander: Blue Peter at Carlisle and Garsdale 01 04 07 26
On 1st July I'd been to Skipton guiding a party for Friends of Settle Carlisle Line and could, with a wait, catch the southbound Fellsman at Garsdale. We'd passed the northbound as my train headed south earlier.
60532 Blue Peter looked fine as it ran along the 'roof' of the S&C - only D1965 providing hotel services coasting along at the rear.
What a difference for the Lakelander on 4th July. Network Rail had instructed LSL that any Steam trains over the northern banks of Shap and Ais Gill must be assisted - light steam only. LSL went overboard adding their pair of Green 20s immediately behind Blue Peter to effectively power the train, certainly wherever 60532 might have to work hard,, including starting away!
We also see the day's freights, Lumo services and several stock moves, including Class 37 Cepheus dragging an EMU to Kilmarnock for maintenance and a Class 156 being moved from Heaton to Newton Heath.
The times shown on clips are for guidance only and shouldn't be taken as definitive.
Any observations are my own and not intended to show any authority and may show my misunderstanding.
