Barmouth Railway Bridge Seen From Above on 10th October 2025
10th October 2025
Upon my return from North Wales, I briefly stopped off at the beautiful coastal town of Barmouth on the Cambrian Coast. Parking up just under the famous 900 yards long (Viaduct) Bridge, which spans across the River Mawddach (Afon Mawddach). The bridge itself is mainly timber and steel girder at the Barmouth end, and is today the oldest and longest timber viaduct/bridge in Britain.
My Licensed UAV Pilot flew his aircraft up and alongside the bridge and just on reaching the Fairbourne end, a 2 car 158 DMU working the 08.52 Machynlleth to Pwllheli came into shot, so it was tracked as far as possible, making this very short clip from this unique angle. Barmouth, I could not help but compare it to the delightful coastal towns that are seen in Cornwall, and I must actually walk across this famous structure that was opened in 1867.
