Description
Highlights from the first day of the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway diesel gala! The first time I have visited this delightful line, where the popular diesel enthusiast event had made a welcome return to the heritage calendar this year, boasting a top lineup of diesel traction with the following:

Class 50 50015 ‘Valiant’ - visiting from the East Lancashire Railway

Class 50 50008 ‘Thunderer’ - visiting courtesy of Hanson & Hall

Class 45 'Peak' 45108 - courtesy of the Peak Locomotive Company

Class 31 31108 - courtesy of A1A Locomotives Limited

Class 47 47715 courtesy of Rail Engineering Solutions. *This loco was on shed and will only run on the Sunday of the event.

These starred alongside Chinnor’s home fleet Class 37 37227 and Network South East liveried Class 08 Shunter 08825.

A comprehensive timetable was in operation today, and the event didn’t go without drama, as 37277 suffered a minor coolant leak which caused it to shut down, resulting in 50015 rescuing the 14.50 from outside Chinnor, returning it to the station, where 45108 removed the 37 before taking the delayed 15.55 as booked! The 37 was swiftly repaired ready to appear for the remainder of the weekend.
