The Hastings Thumper visits the Seaside! DEMU 1013 on the West Somerset Railway. 16/08/25
Joined with @brunelheritage, plenty of vantage points and passing points along the line meant the perfect opportunity to get ahead of the tour at various places. We start at Bishops Lydeard having just joined the branch at Norton Fitzwarren after a late, but relatively clear run down the mainline. We catch up with it at journeys end at Minehead where the passengers disembarked to visit Minehead on a glorious summers day. With the DEMU being serviced and prepped for its return run, we see a different view of the unit from above with the drone.
We then see the Thumper Unit at Blue Anchor as it has a brief stop to crossover with 7828 Odney Manor with the last Minehead bound round trip of the day, before getting ahead of the Unit at Williton. It was good to see a Thumper on the line after almost 20 years.
