BR in the 1990s Maindee West Junction Newport South Wales on 11th November 1993
Maindee West Junction (Newport. South Wales) on 11th November 1993
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Maindee West Junction in Newport South Wales from an elevated vantage point with a great view of the lines to the station and the GWML towards the East and the line curving away to the North for Abergavenny and Hereford. Filmed on Remembrance day 11/11/1993. With Llanwern steelworks just around the corner the location was still quite busy and also keep an eye out for a rather good capture in the forms of locomotive 33035 in NSE livery. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
It shows railway activity at the junction with views of the lines leading to the station and towards the Great Western Main Line eastwards and a curve heading north towards Abergavenny and Hereford. Several locomotives are visible, including 33035 in Network South East livery. The scene reflects railway operations during the British Railways era, with activity near Llanwern steelworks.
Fishplate has identified 32 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 1 headcode and 4 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
