This video is dedicated to a member of the Exeter enthusiasts, Steve Radford, who sadly passed away recently.
Haslemere is situated in Surrey on the direct London Waterloo to Portsmouth line, between Guildford and Petersfield. On this day Steam Dreams ran their Cathedrals Express from London Victoria to Yeovil Junction and return hauled by Steam Locomotive 60163 "Tornado". I capture her on the outward journey just south of Haslemere Station and amongst the normal service trains with EMU Classes 450 and 444. Later that evening The Cathedrals Express was running late and was to be diverted to London Waterloo instead of Victoria, is seen in the video receiving her water stop at the station. Again the busy station seeing EMU services to and from Waterloo and Portsmouth. A now forgotten site is of the Holyborne to Eastleigh Oil train passing through on one of the last runs made, with the usual ten oil tanks. The Locomotive remains unidentified. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories.
