The event also featured 35005 ‘Canadian Pacific on it's first gala debut since overhaul, after the Canadian Pacific rededication event last March https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO54yYsCpcU and 'Mickey Mouse' Ivatt 2-6-2T 41312. The Ivatt proudly carried a headboard denoting the anniversary of the last steam hauled branch line service for the whole of BR, over the Lymington branch which ran from Brockenhurst to Lymington Pier, which this very loco hauled back in 1967!
The Urie Society Locomotive No. 506 sat this one out, having been temporarily withdrawn from service for firebox repairs, and there were plenty of restoration projects at various phases to see at Ropley as well as a steam operated crane!
Enjoy all the action beginning with a ride behind the L&Y duo as they work hard to tackle the steep gradients along the line, nicknamed the Alps, while hauling the 09.35am Alresford - Alton, 35005 on the non stop 8 coach 'Holland American' express along the line, and a freight train, and the magnificent LSWR T3 making its first visit away from the Swanage Railway since its milestone restoration during a thoroughly enjoyable gala!
