Colas Rail Yorkshire PLPR & UTU Services September 2025
Today, I've combined the monthly Yorkshire PLPR, Doncaster PLPR and the Doncaster UTU together for a big video, due to a few factors.
Last weeks video was supposed to be the Doncaster PLPR courtesy of 37405 & 37175 however this proved to be a poor chase as there was no thrash at usual spots and thrash at unusual spots meaning we were mucked up a bit. Ruskington was a new shot meaning we didn't know how it would go and Saxilby was difficult as my maps didn't update properly so it was telling me the train was in the wrong place meaning when it came round the corner at Saxilby at some good speed I was not fully set up and didn't know it was approaching so a bit of a rushed shot was taken sadly. After Saxilby things just continued to get worse as when we were approaching Doncaster the train left an hour early which is incredibly rare as I've only ever seen them do that when the train comes in an hour early as well. When I noticed they had left Doncaster we couldn't really do anything about it as we could have raced to Gainsborough but didn't feel like we could as we had to be at Doncaster for other requirements so we ended up throwing the towel in there.
Next up is a singular shot of the Yorkshire PLPR with 43272 & 43303. I was planning to get at least two shots of it this month but it was very windy at Bootham and the rain was due and because people will know I cycle everywhere I decided not to go out for its return. It was also a different driver and our regular seems to have disappeared again. I wasn't able to see it at Poppleton either but got a few photos of it at Holgate as I do. Thursdays run was also held back a few hours so I wasn't able to see that either.
After that, I decided to plan an evening chase to see 2x 37 hauled test trains to make up for the weeks failures, upon arrival at Doncaster 37116 & 37667 sit started up alongside 37175, it was very nice to see three 37s sat ticking away in Doncaster, very magical. We weren't at Doncaster for long until we headed for Thorne North to see Flopsie & 116 before then heading to Bentley to see 175 heading back to Derby via Wakefield. A very good night of thrash with sound carrying well.
Firstly, see 37405 pass Ruskington with a few toots, headed for Lincoln. The train potentially picked up a track defect just before the station as trains were delayed after the test train had passed.
Next, see 37175 horn past Saxilby headed for Doncaster, having reversed at Lincoln. It then took a quick reversal at Donny then sat outside Lincoln until booked time - was there any point!?
Then, 43272 rolls through Bootham, its MTU engines sounding nice with a blast of the horn from the driver.
After that, 37116 is seen wide open past Thorne North with Flopsie on the rear headed for Hull.
Finally, 37175 is seen storming towards Bentley with tones, sounding a bit flat but still hellfire.
Thanks for watching!
