Larkfield Junction (Glasgow WCML) on 19th May 1992
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Larkfield Jn Just outside Glasgow Central on the WCML route taken on 19/05/1992. Courtesy of the land owner I was granted access to this superb vantage point overlooking the junction to Central station and the lines to Paisley/Pollockshaws. You may need to seek a rail atlas to fully understand the location. But a very intensive location this is, for both LE movements from Polmadie and Freight and passenger expresses on the mainlines. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
It features various locomotives, including classes 37, 82, 87, and 90, operating during the British Railways era. The footage highlights the junction's role in handling both freight and passenger services, with views of movement from Polmadie and mainline expresses. While specific operator details are limited, the location is clearly identified as Glasgow Central and nearby areas. The video offers a nostalgic look at railway operations from the early 1990s.
Fishplate has identified 7 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 3 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
