Description
BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 2010's
Acton Mainline Station & Yard
22nd April 2011
This video was filmed 14 years ago, almost to the day and takes us into the year 2011. On a pleasant Spring day I visited, for a brief spell this location, and captured on film Class 165/166 "Turbo's" on the more local services in and out of London Paddington, which is the next station if you travel to the East on this mainline. HST's are still running in strength on their way to Swansea/Cardiff and the South West as well as the Midlands. Seen also are the Heathrow Express services and an EMU Class I have not really encountered much before, the Class 360. Freight wise a couple of departures were seen in the hands of EWS class 66 Locomotives and a cavalcade of 6 class 66's depart from the yard, under the bridge where I was filming from. Many of the stone trains are from Whatley and Merehead which come to Acton Yard, as do several from the Southern Region, and even then Acton was still a busy location for stone traffic. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read, and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually.. Many thanks to all subscribers and for the likes, also to all those viewers whom over the years, have kindly shown an interest and appreciation in my material.
