D1015 with the Mazey Day Cornishman, 28th June 2014, Part Three
A decent start is made from Plymouth railway station, though the train stopped just after passing Mutley Tunnel. On the restart D1015 performed well on the climb away from Plymouth, passing her former home of Laira Depot, just past Lipson Junction. Some good performance was recorded. After passing Dainton Tunnel the route is downhill to Newton Abbot railway station, where the train stopped to pick up a new guard. After another decent start the train was checked again after Newton Abbot and before Teignmouth railway station though a good run was had along the famous sea wall to Dawlish. After wasting no time accelerating away from the permanent way slack over the repaired section of sea wall, the train continued past Dawlish Warren railway station, Starcross railway station and Powderham on its way toward Exeter.
