Description
After exploring the National Railway Museum in York yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq146sjMz7E&feature=youtu.be today we take a journey along the East Coast Mainline to Darlington, and then down to Shildon to visit the Locomotion Museum!

We begin with GBRF Class 60 60002 'Graham Farish 50th Anniversary 1970 - 2020' on the DRAX wagons and Colas Class 37s 37219 ‘Jonty Jarvis 8-12-1998 to 18-3-2005’ and 37099 ‘Merl Evans 1947-2016’ on the RHTT, before riding down to Shildon, and entering the museum, greeted with an Aladdin's cave of locomotives on display. The centrepiece arguably being the original George and Robert Stephensons Locomotion, on this 200th year celebrating it's historic journey on the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1825. We also see the prototype Deltic, 34051 'Winston Churchill', ex EMR HST powercar 43102 'The Journey Shrinker' and many more exhibits, before taking a walk to The New Hall opened in May 2024, again packed with locomotives an rolling stock to tell the story of the North East's role in early railway development with six themed rows of railway vehicles, making this museum the largest undercover collection of historic rail vehicles anywhere in Europe!
