56045 in action on Sunday at the South Devon Railway Autumn Diesel Gala! + Mainline convoy & RHTT!
Following all the action on Saturday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3ttRN278Ck&t=2595s Sunday saw a slight change of pace, with an alternation of the Class 56s visiting from DC rail, and BR Blue liveried 56045 taking centre stage. 47715 'Rail Engineering Solutions / Quality Assured' sadly failed on Saturday evening after suffering a loss of power and despite best efforts from the engineers, the fault could not be rectified so there were some slight timetable alterations.
The home fleet of Class 33 33002 ’Sea King’ and Class 25 25262 and Class 04 shunters D2246 and D2271 were all in action again and the railway paused appropriately on Remembrance Sunday to pay tribute to the fallen by adorning some locomotives with poppy headboards and observing the two minute silence in reflection of the courage and sacrifices given, honouring all those who gave their lives in service and fought for our freedom.
Unlike Saturday, Sunday started rather grey and dreary and some less than favourable conditions set in throughout the afternoon, but we still managed to get a fair bit done before the heavens opened.
Enjoy a morning run behind the Crompton before movements at Buckfastleigh as 56045 gets involved, a double headed run with the Grid and Rat and much more, before the final sequences filmed on Monday show the locomotive convoy heading back, passing the RHTT with GBRF 57s and stopping briefly at Taunton, bringing to a close a great gala weekend!
