Walsall Station and Ryecroft Junction on 22nd June 2010

Traveling around Birmingham I arrived at an old haunt of mine, Walsall and parked up on the shopping centre car park, which offers a good view towards Bescot. Here in the couple of hours I was present I witnessed quite a few freight trains hauled by either EWS or Freightliner class 66 Locomotives. A class 70 passed through, heading easterly. New Street to Walsall and return passenger services were in the hands of EMU Class 323 and also London Midland City services were formed of a class 170 plus a class 153 to make the formation into a 3 car train. After packing up I moved a little East of the station to Ryecroft Junction, for around 40 minutes. In that period I captured on film more of the same services, including the same class 70 returning Westerly, coming off the Rugeley branch. The other diversion takes the branch towards Water Orton to the South East. These locations then still held an interest, with all the freight that goes through and will need another visit soon. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories.
