The Great Central Railway held their Spring Diesel gala over a 3 day period in April, which gave me plenty of opportunity to video all the traction they had on show. The event was very intense, running trains for 13 hours each day, between Loughborough and Leicester North, with a host of Diesel Locomotives and Railcar Units. I attended on the Friday and Saturday amassing well over 5 hours of video, and so because of this amount, I thought it would be nice to create a few videos covering the highlights. For me the star Locomotive was the "Deltic", so beautifully preserved, number 55019 "ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER" and often seen masquerading as hauling "The Hull Executive" which used to run out of London King's Cross to Hull. ( I even travelled on this train in my youthful years, maybe even behind this very "Deltic" ). I have captured on film the Featured "Deltic" Locomotive in this movie at Loughborough, Quorn and Woodhouse, Swithland (With the assistance of my aerial photographer Zaggy, and Master Audio creator "Skeleton Bob"), Rothley and finally Leicester North station. Other traction included two Class 37s, 50017, Class 20 D8001, Class 33 D6535, Railcar "IRIS" and a heritage DMU. The weather was very generous and the rain held off for the entire period.( No April Showers here ! ). So please enjoy the sights and sounds of this magnificent Locomotive, preserved by the Deltic Preservation Society and I trust you will enjoy the video. More of this event will follow soon.
