Satuday 21st June 1997 was an advertised running day for D7076 on the East Lancashire Railway. D7076 gave its usual exceptional performance which brought much joy to those present. The normal diagram was for D7076 to work five trips from Bury Bolton Street to Rawtenstall and back, however for the 15:00 departure from Bury 33117 was substituted so it could be tested prior to the ELR gala in July. This was the first time 33117 had hauled a passenger train in preservation. The assembled masses largely enjoyed this substitution although one or two hydraulic die hards retired to the pub in disgust! Along the way some sheep trespassed which meant a bit more 33 thrash.....just who is that mysterious masked stranger?
