Filmed across South Wigston, Doncaster, Peterborough, and Leicester, this video showcases relentless freight movements, rare liveries, and unforgettable moments from one of the UK’s most iconic locomotive classes.

Welcome back to Trains & Freight Diaries for a dedicated Class 66 compilation, filmed across multiple key locations during November and December 2025. This video brings together the very best of modern UK freight operations, highlighting the sheer variety, character, and workload carried by the Class 66 fleet on the national network.

📍 South Wigston Station – Freight Hotspot

The compilation opens at South Wigston, a proven hotspot for freight traffic. Captured here are 66306 on 4M78 (21/11/25), followed by 66747 working 4L05 on a wet and miserable 4th December 2025. A busy 5th December delivered a solid run of GBRf and Freightliner power, including 66731 & 66740 on 4L13, 66097 on 4L32, 66516 on 4L93, and 66753 on 4M78.

Later in the month, 66689 was recorded powering through South Wigston on 6O27 (10/12/25), while 17th December added further interest with 66005 on 6V92, 66097 again on 4L32, and 66786 handling 4L13.

📍 Doncaster Station – Heavy Freight & Standout Moments

Moving north to Doncaster Station on 11th December 2025, the compilation captures a superb mix of heavy freight and light engine movements. Highlights include 66168 on 6D06, 66421 on 6E73, 66523 on 4D87, and 66041 on 4L45. A major talking point is 66068, seen arriving on 0Z08 to reveal its brand-new livery, complete with enthusiastic horn action on approach. Also featured is 66792 working 4D78, adding further colour to the Doncaster sequence.

📍 Peterborough Station – Freight Variety on the ECML

The busiest section of the compilation comes from Peterborough on 19th December 2025, where Class 66s dominated the afternoon. Movements include 66707 on 4M23, 66567 on 4L73, 66705 on 6E88, 66786 on 0L99, and the eye-catching pairing of 66703 & 66747 on 4E21 — with 66703 heavily covered in graffiti. Further freight action came from 66756 on 4M29, 66782 on 4L13, 66957 on 4E24, 66181 on 4L45, 66532 on 4L93, 66177 on 6L42, and the famously filthy 66735 on 0H06. Rounding out the Peterborough sequence are 66708 on 4L05, 66743 on 6E85, 66780 on 4L28, 66305 on 4L98, 66511 on 4E81, and 66729 on 0L97.

📍 Leicester Station – Christmas Eve Finale

The compilation concludes at Leicester Station on Christmas Eve 24th December 2025, featuring 66727 on 4M07 and 66137 on 0Z50, the latter looking almost factory-fresh and providing a fitting end to this wide-ranging Class 66 showcase.
