Description
Some moves of significance through Bristol Parkway this afternoon, beginning with the National Railway Museum’s World famous LNER A3 Pacific 60103/4472 ‘Flying Scotsman’. Following its reunion with GWR 4079 ‘Pendennis Castle’ at the Didcot Railway Centre’ https://youtu.be/NIn8whWcPvs?si=kZyJ19T85ObjWrky the A3 ran under its own steam on the mainline today working the 5Z81 Didcot Great Western Society - Bishops Lydeard WSR, where the A3 will begin its starring role at the West Somerset Railway between the end of June - Mid July where she will move to the Severn Valley Railway in conjunction with the official reopening after the landslip there between Hampton Loade - Bridgnorth earlier this year.

The second highly anticipated move of the day came from Great British Railfreight, with Beacon Rails first two brand new Class 99 Co-Co Bimode locomotives being moved by rail behind GBRF 66307 ‘Ipswich Town’ on the 0Q66 Avonmouth Hanson Sidings GBRF - Leicester L.I.P. These locomotives arrived from Bremen after testing in Europe to Avonmouth Docks on the 10th June, and based on Stadler's proven EuroDual platform, these next generation locomotives are the first of their kind in the UK, able to seamlessly operate across both electrified and non-electrified lines, bringing unparalleled flexibility to the freight network. With 500 kN of tractive effort and speeds up to 120 km/h, it’s a powerful solution for sustainable rail transport, and a significant first move, albeit not under their own power, to witness through the region today!

We also see 66186 and on hire 66792 'Collaboration' as well as some stabled Freightliner sheds at Stoke Gifford Freight Depot. | 17.06.2025
