HIGHLIGHTS from COTSWOLD AIRPORT VINTAGE FLY IN! PLUS F-86 Sabre AT CARDIFF AIRPORT! | 31.05.2025
There were a whole host of interesting light aircraft arriving and departing through the day, with the highlight being the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfires coming in for fuel after their Saturday Display at Ragley Hall, before heading to Exeter for the English Riviera Airshow!
Mark Hooton’s Vampire WZ507 sadly went tech and pulled out of its Midlands Air Festival appearance due to some issues on the aircraft making it Impossible to be fixed for the airshow. However we did get the opportunity to see it up close, undergoing repairs and tests. We also see Bob Davy's Yak 3 F-AZIM, Canberra XH134, now moved to her new hard standing next to the Negus 747, the Bristol Britannia, as well as a look at the British Phantom Aviation Group and Buccaneer Aviation Groups airframes and a host of other aircraft at the event!
We leave the action at Kemble, with the BBMF Spitfires being prepared for their transit to Exeter Airport to meet the Lancaster Bomber, and head to Cardiff Airport to capture another aviation rarity, as Mistral Warbirds Canadair CL-13B Sabre MK.6 makes a beautiful sight this afternoon, returning from its display at Saturdays Midlands Air Festival! Now the only flying Sabre in Europe owned by Frédéric Akary and based in Avignon, France, it made the rare transit via Dinard to Cardiff last week, and a really fantastic piece of aviation heritage to round off the day today!
