On my last full day I spent from 1000-1700 lineside in the Shamalgan/Chemolgan area in the outskirts of Almaty. This line which runs from Almaty - Astana had a decent mix of electric freight & passenger trains, in the hands of Triple Section VL80, KZ8A, VL60, 2SE7 freight wise & KZA4T hauling passenger trains including Talgo and more Soviet era loco hauled stock.

All recorded on a very hot 15th of June 2026.
