Western Prince: King of Clag!!! 12th & 13th September 1998
This video is of the East Lancs Railway "Mini Mix" Diesel Gala that took place over the weekend of 12th & 13th September 1998. The weather was pretty poor all weekend with most of the rain falling during the day of the 12th which is why there was only a bit of 33117 and its use to rescue fuel starved D1041 at Bury that evening when it just made it to the platform after a cracking run! After D1041 was recovered the stock was shunted to form a 20 coach rake, tailed by D5054, which would be hauled by D832 from Bury Bolton Street to Rawtenstall for the delectation of those hardy travellers that remained. Onslaught performed admirably on this run, both audibly and visibly with occaisional clouds of sparks from the exhaust caused by heated rust being blown out due to the sustained full power required!
On Sunday 13th September it was all about D1041 showing why it was the King of Clag!!!!
