Rugby Station on 27th March 2025 (Part 1 of 2)
Part 1 of 2
On my way up the M1 North Bound, I stopped off at Rugby Station, a location I have not visited for quite a while. I noticed how much busier it was nowadays than back in the 1970s. Trains then whizzed through on their way North and to London and you would see a couple of Freightliners pass through. The only inter-city service that regularly stopped, were the Blackpool North trains, of course all hauled by AC Electrics. The local Euston to New Street via Northampton services were class EMU's. The few hours I was here on this visit though, I actually saw more variety, which surprised me a little, so many different destinations, the different liveries and the frequency of services to and from London Euston. The other surprising thing was the amount of "Tesco" freightliners that trundled through, When researching on Realtimetrains.com I actually thought that these trains were variants of just a few services, so this really was a nice surprise.
I captured on film Class 350 EMU's on stopping services to and from London to the Midlands and of course the "Avanti" West Coast Class 390 on the mainline services to and from Scotland, The North West, Liverpool and Manchester. Several Evero Class 805 and 807s are also captured on this video. A GBRf class 92 was on the South Bound "Caledonian Sleeper" train from the North of Scotland. Other locomotives seen are Class 88, Class 66s in different liveries, a double headed Freightliner with Class 90s in Freightliner Orange/Yellow livery. A noisy sounding 68001 on a lengthy "Tesco/DRS" Freightliner, was seen departing and this is just Part 1 of 2.
