Thingley Junction near Chippenham on the main western route from London Paddington to Bath and Bristol Temple Meads, is the junction where trains can diverge off the mainline and take the scenic route through Melksham, and to Westbury. Used by Freight and Passenger services to and from Swindon and Westbury. On this particular day Steam Locomotive A4 number 4464 'Bittern' was hauling a special from Banbury to Paignton and Kingswear and return. I captured on film a few Freight trains passing, in the hands of Class 66 Locomotives. Later that evening, positioned at Hawkeridge Junction, just round the curve from Westbury Station, I witnessed the return working of 4464 from Paignton, heading for Banbury via Swindon, Oxford. I also caught a glimpse of FGW HST's coming off the mainline from Pewsey (Berks & Hants route) and finally ending this video from the platforms at Westbury Station under a full moon.
