UK Railtours “The Kent Coaster” tour on 7th July 2025
The train had an early start from East Midlands Parkway with 47812 up front and we joined at Watford Junction for a short ride behind the 47 to Acton Reception Sidings. With the 47 moving to the rear of the train 33029 and 33207 took the lead for the journey through Kensington Olympia, across South London and into Kent.
We passed Tonbridge West yard, full of 73s as we made our way to Folkestone, Dover, Ramsgate, Margate, Whitstable finishing at Faversham. After a couple of hours looking around Faversham we joined the train again which had turned using the triangle to the Sheppy line so once again the 33s were at the front. We were over 30 minutes late leaving but this time was all made up by the time we were back to London and we timed some great 80 miles per hour running through Kent behind a pair of locos in good form.
Lots to see throughout the journey and great facilities on board made this an excellent day out.
Thanks again to UK Railtours for another top notch day out.
