Gainsborough Central Station on 3rd November 1992
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Gainsborough Central Station taken on 03/11/1992. With the demise of coal mines in the area coal trains are dissappearing fast. An MGR train hauled by a class 56 is captured on film and also a class 37 hauled Oil train. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
It includes footage of a Class 56-hauled MGR train and a Class 37-hauled oil train. The recording reflects a period of change in the region, with coal trains becoming increasingly rare due to the decline of local coal mining. The video provides a nostalgic look at railway operations from this era, highlighting locomotive classes that are now long gone.
