Ripple Lane to North Camp Oil Train at
Guildford and North Camp on 15th March 1993
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of one of the last Oil Trains to serve North Camp Oil Terminal before closure. Seen as the class 37 loco runs round her train at Guildford Station and then as the train is shunted out of the North Camp Terminal overseen by the then station master Mr Tony Smith (A good Tea Maker too and friend). The train then heads back to Ripple Lane. Note the stupidity of the Father crossing live to traffic tracks within the closed compound of the crossing, Heaven Forbid if he had fallen over!. Anyhow I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
The footage shows a Class 37 locomotive performing shunting operations at Guildford Station and North Camp Terminal before the terminal's closure. Several Class 33 and Class 37 locomotives are visible. The video provides a nostalgic look at railway operations during this period, with some commentary on the scene and its historical significance.
Fishplate has identified 4 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 3 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
