Description
Now that the Standard Class Tank No.80105 has returned back into service the steam guys at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway have turned their attentions to No.20 0-6-0 Andrew Barclay design engine built in 1939 for the Wemyss Private Railway (Works No.2068).
One of Britain’s largest 0-6-0 designs and used on the extensive Wemyss Private Railway system in East Fife.
Some No.20 History :-
This Engine was in poor mechanical condition although the boiler may need only a re-tube. There are several cracks in the frames which will need to be repaired and the trailing axle is below scrapping size. A spare set of axles complete with new tyres is in stock for this engine. These wheel sets have had the journals skimmed and tyres profiled.
The locomotive has been dismantled with the boiler stripped and lifted out of the frames. The motion and brake gear has now been removed and the loco has been lifted and the wheel sets removed from the frames.
No.20's frames are now inside the new engineering building where the restoration has already begun this was some video footage that I took of the work in progress. If you have supported the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway over the years thank you so much and please keep supporting our wonderful railway thanks for watching take care and keep safe.
