GB Railfreight 57306 heads TO THE WEST! + MORE Snow Ploughs for FAIRWATER YARD!? 🤔 | 21.01.2025
57306 was gradually making its way to the GWR Depot at Long Rock, Penzance, to have some essential contract bogie/ wheelset repairs, and the reason Penzance was selected is most other engineering facilities currently have a long wait time so Penzance was the quickest facility available to carry out the necessary work required!
Initially the move was scheduled to finish at Exeter, with a path in the early hours scheduled onwards to Plymouth, but this was changed on route so the locomotive could get a bit further down to Plymouth and avoid the early wake up call, and we see 57306 depart with the 0Z08 Exeter St Davids - Plymouth Park Sidings.
The final scenes show some interest in the Taunton area, as an overnight arrival of two ZZA 10 Network Rail Independent Snow Ploughs from Eastriggs M.O.D last week, has brought the total to four now residing in and around Fairwater Yard!
Newly arrived ADB965240 sits at the Southern end of Silkmills by the A3065 road bridge, behind resident ADB965223, both facing Exeter.
Further up the line resident ADB965235 sits in amongst the HBOC wagons in Fairwater yard itself, while newly arrived ADB965217 is parked by Trenchard Way along the South end of 40 steps.
Historically when Direct Rail Services had the contract, we saw a Snow Plough test around early February, so it could be interesting to see if a move develops in the coming months for any of these…
