Description
BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 2010's
Basingstoke Station
19th August 2011

I made a visit to Basingstoke and located myself near the top of the multi storey car park, kind permission of the security staff on duty. The video was taken during the period between 11.43 until 15.10 hrs, and the main course of EMU traction were of class 444, 450 from and to London Waterloo, serving Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth and Weymouth, while DMU traction of classes 159 were on the Salisbury and Exeter route. "Voyagers" class 220/221 making their way to and from the Midlands and Bournemouth and Poole are also seen on a frequent schedule. There was an abundance of Freight during this period, being hauled by either EWS or Freightliner Class 66 Locomotives. Towards the end a GBRf Class 66 Locomotive heads for Eastleigh with an "Arlington Fleet" rake of South Eastern EMU's, in a sorry looking state. In total 14 Class 66's are captured on film, the days of traction variety has really reduced by this time, so sad to say, but I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read, and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually.. Many thanks to all subscribers and for the likes, also to all those viewers whom over the years, have kindly shown an interest and appreciation in my material.
