Description
On 22nd June 1996, a proper West Country Summer Saturday day out was apprieciated by Crompton afficionadoes, thanks to Pathfinder Railtours. While the train started in Birmingham with a 47/7, 33002 & 33019 worked the train between Bristol Temple Meads and Penzance and return.

This video starts and finishes in the Exeter area and covers a lot of the well known scenic locations along the route. The train was over an hour late by the time it left Bristol which meant some slow running along the Dawlish sea wall as it caught up with a local stopping train. As usual for a summer saturday at the time, plenty of lineside photographers were out and about, with a nameless notorious face noted early on at Starcross in the late morning and many perched on top of Langstone Rock near Dawlish Warren. After a good run along the sea wall and river side to Newton Abbot the train continued on through Dainton Tunnel toward Plymouth, over Brunels Royal Albert Bridge and on in to Cornwall. After a shortened rest at Penzance the Cromptons head back toward Bristol without any major delays.

Another cracking day out!
