London Euston Station
19th January 2010
A very joyful welcome to the next chapter from my video archive. The decade of the 2010's. At the beginning of that year I upgraded the digital video camera, to something much better. Giving a higher and better resolution and at last stereo audio, so the end results should be much better. Eager to test this new equipment out I made my way into London, to test out on 3 of the London terminis, this video is the third location from that visit. London Euston Station, notably not a huge change from when I knew it more in the mid 1970s. The concourse seems the same and the general ambience too, but the big change is the lack of that distinct hum and smell of ozone in the air, and ticking compressors from the different types of AC Electric locomotives. Only rarely seen there anymore, fortunately on future visits to the station, catching the Caledonian Sleepers on film I did witness a Class 87 on the ECS movements. The striking change in traction at this location since the 1990s is that almost every train is a Class 390 "Pendolino" or Class 220 "Voyager". The station still serves the West Coast Main Line, and run to major cities like Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, and Glasgow. The Class 220 Voyager DEMU also run on a lot of services from Euston operated by Virgin Trains West Coast and ran services to Birmingham, Manchester, Carlisle and other locations along the West Coast and North Wales. If you enjoy the video please like and subscribe. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually.. Many thanks to all subscribers and for the likes, also to all those viewers whom over the years, have kindly shown an interest and appreciation in my material.
