GREAT MIX OF TRAINS at Peterborough! + 60163 'TORNADO' RAISES STEAM at the NENE VALLEY! | 24.10.2024

A great day of railway action, beginning at Peterborough mainline staton, with a flurry of heritage movements including Class 56 56103 on 4Z82 Derby Chaddesden Sidings - Brandon Down Sidings, Class 47 47815 ‘Great Western’ on the 0Z75 Newark North Gate Sidings - Peterborough making a short stop before changing ends for a light engine run forming the 0Z76 to York, and plenty of Class 66 action, as well as a couple of LNER Class 91's passing through.

We then head across to Wansford on the Nene Valley Railway where new Build LNER A1 4-6-2 60163 ‘Tornado’ is seen looking resplendent in the Autumnal sunshine. The A1 has just undergone a major overhaul and preparations were well underway as the pacific was raising steam ahead of its footplate experience turns on the Friday and starring role hauling trains at the weekends ‘Tornado Weekend’ on the line!

The heritage lines other locomotives and rolling stock were also shunting around including an ex TFW Pacer 143602, and and Danish F Class 656 ‘Tinkerbell’. Sadly I couldn't stay for the running weekend, but Nene Valley was certainly a line I'd like to visit properly in the future! | 24.10.2024
