Description
BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 2010's
Eastleigh Station and Yard
28th April 2011

I made another visit to one of my more favourite locations, just a few miles to the North of Southampton and very close to Southampton Airport.
As this was filmed during the evening hours, the main course of traction were EMU's of classes 444, 450 and DMU classes 159, and class 220 "Voyagers" making their way to and from the Midlands and Bournemouth and Poole. Also a Class 158 in SWT livery arrives from the Fareham Line. Filmed at first from the end of the station platforms, quite a few Class 66s are seen, either in EWS or Freightliner livery on Freightliner duties, and even a Class 59 (59204 "Vale of Glamorgan") was captured on film, in the sidings, which headed back for Westbury soon after. One example of a GBRf liveried 73 was static in the sidings (73204 "Janice"). As daylight faded and the wind had calmed down a little I repositioned myself onto Campbell Road Bridge just South of the station platforms, a good vantage point, but can be exposed to the elements at times. Here I finished up with a South bound freightliner hauled by 66542. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read, and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually.. Many thanks to all subscribers and for the likes, also to all those viewers whom over the years, have kindly shown an interest and appreciation in my material. ps Happy Birthday Andy....
