RARE SAAB J 35 J visits BOURNEMOUTH AIRPORT! + a look round BOURNEMOUTH AVIATION MUSEUM! 16.08.2024
The museum had some fantastic exhibits, with airframes and cockpits all open to the public allowing a really interactive and hands on experience, great for the kids and big kids alike! The Draken was parked across the far end of the airport behind the industrial estate so wasn’t easily viewable from the museum but we could just about pick it out. Anticipation built as the heritage jet wound its way down the runway, before roaring out to open the show on Friday at Eastbourne Airbourne, and apologies for the worst timed lorry to drive past!! 🤦‍♂️
Thankfully, there was a second chance to capture more of the Draken following its Eastbourne display, as the aircraft returned to Bournemouth to refuel, before taking off to return to Sweden just after 16.00pm, routing Bournemouth - Gothenburg and then transiting onwards to Trollhattan.
But it won’t be too long we have to wait until the Draken returns to the UK, as it should be back at the end of August for the Bournemouth Air Festival, and this time bringing the mighty Saab 37 Viggen with it which will be awesome to see!
