Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of The Great Western Society's Cathedrals Express steam Shuttles between Didcot and Oxford on a very cold day. Great Western Locomotive (Hall Class) number 5998 "Burton Agnes Hall" was the selected Steam locomotive for the day's event. Captured at Didcot North Junction and later Hinksey North Jn (Oxford) in failing daylight but looking spectacular. This year seemed to be the start of many steam hauled specials on the BR mainline . I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories.
