Description
On a weekend seemingly filled with railway galas and events, The Forest of Dean Railway held their Spring Steam Gala, with visiting guest loco Bagnall No. 2572 ‘Judy’, running alongside resident BR(W) Pannier 9681 and Peckett & Sons Works No 2147 'Uskmouth 1'.

@southwalestrainspotting5090 and I made a trip to catch 'Judy' in action on the line today. Sadly due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the DFR’s control, the originally advertised GER No. 229 and Willy the Well Tank had to be withdrawn from the event at short notice, owing to issues with the hire agreement and a significant rework of the timetable was undertaken but the railway pressed ahead with the event.

It was still a nice line up of locomotives, 'Judy' gave an enthusiastic performance and the Well Tank was visible on shed at Norchard, as well as the newly arrived Class 73 E6003/73003 'Sir Herbert Walker' which has moved here from the Swindon & Cricklade Railway. The weather frustratingly was back to more overcast and rainy conditions but this didn't dampen our spirits! | 29.03.2026
