Peak Forest Sidings on 16th May 2011
Upon a visit to one of my favourite locations, in the "Peak District" on a very normal afternoon, between the hours of 12.00 Noon to 16.00. In little windy conditions I captured on film EWS Locomotive 60045 "The Permanent Way Institution" on shunting rakes of Limestone wagons in and out of Dove Holes Quarry Sidings. A few other Locomotives, namely EWS Class 66s are seen up and down and taking the rakes away to their respective destinations. I notice No more banking is really necessary, as these locomotives have "Slip" control and are more powerful than the older type and sadly missed Locomotives. How this location has changed since the 1980s. However If you enjoy the video please like and subscribe. The footage includes EWS Class 66 locomotives moving trains to their destinations. British Railways and other operators are referenced, though no specific headcodes are identified in the record. The location has seen changes since the 1980s, with more modern locomotive technology reducing the need for traditional banking operations.
