Worting Junction (Basingstoke) Steventon F/C
During June 2012
on several occasions during the very wet month of June in 2012, I visited Worting Junction to the West of Basingstoke, and in particular the foot crossing on two levels crossing the Down and Up Southampton lines west of where the line seperates/joins to and from Southampton, Bournemouth and Weymouth with the Salisbury, Yeovil and Exeter route on the Southern Region. The main course of traction are EMU's of class 444, 450 and "Voyagers" class 220/221 on their way to and from Bournemouth and the North West and Midlands. On each visit I captured on video some Steam Specials, such as the Diamond Jubilee Express seen in my Windsor & Eton video, other steam Locomotives witnessed were 34067 'Tangmere' also 70000 'Britannia' and for the Diesel enthusiast, several freightliners and other freight are seen hauled by either EWS or Freightliner Class 66 Locomotives on their way to and from Southampton and the various locations in the North. The rain was almost constant and sheltering under my battered old umbrella, gave my camera a bit of protection, but not me. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read, and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually..
