Mostly Sulzer ๐ at the Mid Norfolk Diesel Gala, 26th May 2025
Throughout the event two sets of coaching stock were used, one formed with vacuum braked stock and the second formed with air braked stock which was used by the visiting locos as they are not fitted with vacuum brake equipment.
Visiting locomotives were paired up 20007 & 20205 provided by ROMIC Group and 37501 & 37800 provided by Rail Operations Group. 37501 carries a heritage British Steel livery. The 37s were not used as diagrammed on Monday due to a shortage of crew according to a local rumour.
Resident locomotives 33202 & 47580 worked with the vacuum braked coaches while D1933 (47596) worked the air braked coaches as they also needed ETH supply for the air conditioning. The visiting locomotives were not fitted with vacuum brake systems and hauled this set although 20007 & 20205 did pilot 47580 hauling the vacuum braked set on one train.
I make no excuses for featuring 33202 extensively! The loco looks amazing and performs excellently, its definitely worth a ride behind if you ever get the chance. I was almost transported back in time to Pompey - Bristol days....
The nostalgia level was raised a bit further when I noticed MLV 68004 (9004) in the line of stock on the way out of Dereham. The Mid Norfolk is host to a reasonable number of HST power cars and trailer vehicles, which are stored where ever there is room.
Toward the end of the day 37501 & 37800 worked one train in order to head back to Norwich and from there back to their normal duties. They are seen at Norwich at the end of the video.
