I coincided a visit to my Sister who at the time lived in Farnborough, with a visit also in order to capture on film "Steam Dreams" "Cathedrals Express" from London Victoria to Swanage, being hauled by Steam Locomotive 70000 'Britannia', which was booked to stop at the Main Station to 'Pick Up' only. This station is situated on the Mainline between Woking and Basingstoke, whereas Farnborough has a North Station, on the Reading to Guildford Line not too far away. Waiting for 1Z96 I also witnessed the usual normal running of EMU traction in the forms of class 444 or 450 running to and from London Waterloo, Southampton, Bournemouth and Weymouth, while DMU traction of classes 159 were on the Salisbury and Exeter route passing at speed on the Fast Lines. There was also a single LE Freightliner Class 66 Locomotive, that drifted through the station on the Up. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories.
