GWR Class 166 Drivers Eye View Time Lapse *HD*
The inbound journey was a stopper and the view was from Ealing Broadway to London Paddington P14 via the Acton Dive-Under.
The outbound journey was a Reading fast service (1K to Bedwyn) and departed Reading P14 to follow the relief lines to allow a late running HST to get up to speed. Then oddly the signaller put us in front of him at Acton and we continued on the fast lines to Reading. You can clearly see the line, fully wired from Paddington to Reading now, with electric serivices starting to go as far as Didcot from January 2018, which will see a huge decrease in the number of Class 165/166 services on the GWML, with the majority on Bedwyn and Oxford fast trains, as well as covering the branch lines and also the shuttle between Didcot and Oxford.
A time-lapse video captured from the driver's eye view of a Great Western Railway Class 166 diesel multiple unit, showing journeys between Ealing Broadway and London Paddington, as well as Reading. The footage includes travel along the Acton Dive-Under and relief lines, with mention of electric services extending to Didcot from 2018. Locations featured include Bedwyn, Oxford, and Reading, with operators associated being First Great Western and GWR.
